Hidden (and not so hidden) gems from the north

Which hidden (and not so hidden) gems from the north should you absolutely not miss this year? Together with the makers, we dive into exciting quests, artistic productions and the new genre of the gardening podcast. Are you a maker yourself? This is your chance to meet other storytelling podcast makers from up north!

Installation: Mourning as a landscape (daytime)

It’s often said that everyone grieves in their own way. But is mourning really unique? In this experimental audio production, PodGront and Krina Huisman explore the landscape of mourning. Do people with different cultural backgrounds have a different grieving experience? Is our common understanding of grief inclusive enough? You’ll make a physical journey through the existing images of mourning and come across different insights about mourning and grief.

Installation: All ears (daytime)

As opposed to reading: this is literature to listen to. It cannot exist on paper. Step into this audio experience and listen to stories in which a life begins, you meet the Kockelkoren family, a statue of Mary cries, a ghost wanders through Paris and an answer is sought to the question: is it light? With audio literature by Anne Eekhout, Jonathan Griffioen, Valentijn Hoogenkamp, Vincent Kortmann and Moya De Feyter.

Theatershow DAMN HONEY – SUIT YOURSELF (try-out) 20:00 - 21:00

You should hide your ‘problem zones’. Sex revolves around the man. And don’t forget it’s your own fault if you get grabbed in the ass.

Marie Lotte Hagen and Nydia van Voorthuizen, the founding mothers of DAMN, HONEY the podcast, are done with it. In this performance about shit that you have to deal with as a woman of this time, they kick this kind of misunderstanding for you with verve. Based on their own experiences, they show how absurd some things are that we all consider to be perfectly normal. Marie Lotte and Nydia break through all the taboos and open up about everything they used to think No One Should Ever Know, in the hope that you will feel less alone. Expect a carousel of poorly acted skits, a lot of self-mockery, a laugh and maybe even a tear.

This is the very first try-out of the theater show, at a time when it is still under development. As a result, the show lasts shorter than the try-outs on later dates.

Tickets for the theater show are on sale here.

Money doesn’t stink (NL) 10.00 - 17.00

please note that this program is in Dutch

Since the last edition of the Podcast Festival, the podcast landscape has changed enormously. There have been major shifts in the market in just one year. How do you deal with this as an (independent) maker? How do you strengthen your position against closed platforms? And what do the numbers actually say about the trends of recent years? Speaking of numbers… How do you budget your own show? And how do you ensure that you have something nice left at the end of the month?

Also part of this track is Avery Trufelman’s masterclass. How do you come up with a good podcast idea? Where do you look and how do you sharpen those ideas? In this masterclass, Avery Trufelman (known for the podcasts 99% Invisible, Articles of Interest and Nice Try!) tells how she processes the world around her – from films she sees, books she reads or people she speaks at parties. in her pitches. She also talks about her interview techniques and which unwritten rules she sometimes breaks to get the best tape. This masterclass can be visited by participants of both tracks.

You will learn all this (and more) at the conference. We will quickly provide an overview of the specific times. Get your ticket here.

Crossing borders, creating communities (ENG) - curated by Are We Europe 10.00 - 17.00

Together with our dear friends from Are We Europe, we’ve curated a great track specially for podcasters across Dutch borders. Not to worry, Dutchies, you’re still very much invited (just know that this is an English-spoken program). We’ll have great international guests from all over Europe, providing you with in-depth knowledge of their productions. Big chance you’ve already heard Alexi Mostrous‘ hitshow Sweet Bobby. If not, make sure to catch up because he will join this track to share all his podcasting tricks and trades (and it really is a great show).

And how do you make sure your podcast is inclusive (i.e. suitable for those with impaired hearing)? And what about incorporating silence in an audio-only experience like podcasts? Furthermore, we’ll host a panel filled with the who’s who of the international podcastworld on ‘Creating Communities across Borders’.

Kids conference 15:30 - 17:00

please note that this program is for Dutch kids only

Kids podcasts are growing (just like kids themselves) like weeds. It is therefore only right that these mini-makers should have their own mini-conference. Together with our friends from the Wijsneus Foundation, we have curated a nice program. For example, how does audio sound in a very small space? Or a really big one? And watch out, because after the interview techniques workshop, a number of mini-professionals will be walking around to ask you the question.

Want to get a ticket to learn more about interview techniques? Click this link. Curious to learn more about radio play, check out this link.

please note that the above links and the workshops are in Dutch!
